Sapience Cyber is a specialist cyber advisory firm led by practitioners with direct experience in complex, sensitive and high-stakes environments.
We bring that operational depth directly to your organisation.
"Real experience shapes how we think about risk. Organisations that have faced genuine threats think differently ... so do we."
Sapience — How We Are Built
Sapience Consulting exists to solve complex cyber and technology risk problems for organisations that need senior judgement, not additional headcount or a tool subscription.
We work with regulated mid-market and enterprise organisations across financial services, telecommunications, government and defence, health, energy and critical infrastructure. We do not compete for volume work, staff augmentation or low-cost implementation. Our focus is independent advisory that translates directly into reduced risk and measurable business outcomes.
Our approach starts with your threat exposure, your technology stack and your business requirements; not a standard checklist. Every engagement is grounded in the specific risks that matter to your organisation, and the advice we deliver is linked to practical action, not documentation.
We maintain a curated network of trusted specialist partners across offensive security, forensics, managed services, legal and audit. Partners extend our depth and capacity. They do not replace our accountability. We retain the client relationship, the risk narrative and the scope in every engagement.
One of our core capabilities is identifying and reasoning through convoluted but realistic threat scenarios that apply to your specific business and technology environment. We draw on broad exposure across sectors, including real situations of compromise. We bring the threat use cases that matter to your stack, not generic scenarios from a textbook.
By staying at the leading edge of emerging technology security; including AI, Agentic AI and Post-Quantum Cryptography; our advice is inherently forward-looking. Even if your organisation does not need AI-specific or PQC-specific work today, our threat models and reference architectures reflect the direction the threat landscape is heading. You receive advice that remains relevant as your technology evolves and as adversaries adapt.
We are not a managed services provider, a technology reseller or a broad consulting practice.
We exist to solve complex cyber and technology risk problems for organisations that need senior judgement.
The people you meet in the first conversation are the people who do the work. That continuity means our advice gets sharper over time, not thinner.
We use AI tools to augment our work where appropriate. AI assists with research, documentation and analysis. It does not replace judgement, assessment or client interaction. There is always a qualified, experienced person overseeing the outcome.
Most firms treat AI security and Post-Quantum Cryptography as extensions of existing services. We maintain dedicated threat models, governance frameworks, assurance methods and proprietary reference architectures for each.
These are not figureheads. Every person below has carried direct delivery accountability in regulated and sensitive environments, and brings that judgement into client work personally.

Sushim is the founder of Sapience Consulting and a cyber, risk, technology and program leader with more than 15 years of experience across financial services, telecommunications, government and defence, health, energy and critical infrastructure. He specialises in translating cyber security strategy into practical implementation and measurable business outcomes, working directly with executive and technology leadership to frame risk, prioritise investment and guide major security and resilience initiatives.
He has led programs valued above $20 million, built cross-functional teams and supported more than 75 organisations to strengthen cyber security and risk management capabilities. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in radio frequency systems, which underpins the engineering rigour and first-principles thinking he brings to security architecture and control design. He is a security patent holder and PMP-certified, with a track record in highly sensitive government and defence environments.
As organisations accelerate adoption of artificial intelligence and agentic systems, Sushim brings dedicated focus to the security risks these technologies introduce, and to preparing organisations for the cryptographic disruption that post-quantum computing will drive.

Ilya is a Principal at Sapience Consulting, specialising in cyber security architecture, strategy and fractional CISO services. He brings enterprise security experience across major financial institutions, government agencies and critical infrastructure, working with CISOs, CIOs and boards to build security architectures grounded in risk appetite and business logic rather than vendor roadmaps.
His practice is grounded in the SABSA enterprise security architecture methodology and extends to cyber security strategy, governance, compliance and senior security leadership. Regulatory frameworks he works across include the Essential Eight, IRAP, APRA CPS 234 and the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act.
A growing part of Ilya’s work is focused on the security implications of artificial intelligence, agentic AI systems and post-quantum cryptography, where sound architectural thinking is essential and where many organisations currently lack internal capability to assess or respond to the risk exposure these technologies create.
As a fractional CISO, Ilya provides sustained senior security leadership to organisations that require ongoing strategic direction, executive accountability and team oversight without the cost or commitment of a full-time appointment; a practical model suited to organisations in growth, transition or building their security capability for the first time.

Rasika is a Principal at Sapience Consulting, working at the intersection of AI governance, technology risk and regulatory compliance. She brings over two decades of experience across financial services, energy, infrastructure and government, helping boards and executive teams establish accountable governance over operations and technology.
Her work bridges policy and delivery. She has designed and operationalised governance frameworks for highly regulated organisations; translating obligations under regimes such as the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II and KYC/AML/CTF into operating-model elements. She contributes to global standards through multiple IEEE working groups on AI governance and ethics oversight in AI projects, and as a Digital Skills Facilitator at the Australian Institute of Management she educates and coaches clients on AI strategy, governance and transformation.
She is PMP-certified, with degrees in finance and software engineering, a Master’s in Environment, AI for Energy Solutions from MIT, Quantum Computing, Cyber Security and Robotics from Deakin University, a Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing Certificate from the CFA Institute, and an Advanced Diploma in the Systemic Transformation of Organisations currently underway.
She is particularly effective where governance must be stood up from scratch or operationalised across complex, multi-stakeholder environments; critical infrastructure, financial services and government; translating regulatory obligation into practical business decisions.

David is a Principal at Sapience Consulting and a fully qualified lawyer. He has senior executive and consulting experience, including roles in the university sector. He has led projects and managed large teams, partnering with major global organisations on work valued at more than $2 billion. His project work has required negotiation and approval at senior levels of government and the military, in Australia and overseas. He has worked across the Defence sector, government agencies and commercial enterprises including mining.
David is experienced in identifying and protecting intellectual property, leading to their commercialisation. This is relevant as organisations bring AI enabled products to market and need to manage protection, disclosure and risk together. He combines legal training, direct experience negotiating through crises, and exposure to sensitive government and Defence environments.

Chris is a Principal at Sapience Consulting with over 25 years of program and portfolio delivery experience across banking, insurance, wealth management and government. He specialises in complex technology and data transformation programs in regulated financial services environments, where delivery discipline, stakeholder management and governance accountability determine whether programs succeed or stall.
His career spans senior program leadership at AustralianSuper, Macquarie Group, Westpac, AMP and ANZ, as well as engagements at ASIC and the Australian Federal Government. At AustralianSuper, he recovered and led the flagship Liquidity Treasury Management System program, onboarding four investment portfolios onto a new global digital platform, uplifting over 200 business controls and establishing a global operating and trading model across Sydney, Melbourne and London.
At Westpac, he established a three-year Customer Mastering Program comprising 17 project streams. His earlier Macquarie tenure included front-to-back Calypso implementation across equities, FICC, treasury, payments and cash management, with board-level reporting accountability and delivery teams built on Agile and Scrum principles.
He holds PMP, PRINCE2, MSP and Professional Scrum Master certifications, with a consistent track record of delivering high-value programs where regulatory compliance, operational risk and technology complexity intersect.
Our advisers are an integral extension of the Sapience team; each brings independent professional standing and engages with us on a flexible, as-required basis from within their own established practices.

We maintain a curated network of trusted specialist partners; selected for capability and cultural fit, not commercial arrangement. We retain client accountability within our contracted scope, throughout every engagement.

About StrikeCyber is a leading offensive cybersecurity and penetration testing firm based in Brisbane, Australia, dedicated to safeguarding businesses by identifying and mitigating potential security threats through advanced offensive strategies - now enhanced with AI-powered capabilities. StrikeCyber operates under a strict zero data retention policy. Client data, findings, and engagement artefacts are never stored beyond the active engagement window - ensuring your sensitive information remains confidential and is not retained, repurposed, or exposed beyond its intended scope. This commitment underpins every engagement and reflects StrikeCyber's dedication to trust and integrity.
Security governance frameworks and control architectures require independent validation to carry credibility with boards, regulators and auditors. StrikeCyber provides that validation, delivering the technical assurance work that tests whether the posture Sapience has helped a client design and implement is functioning as intended. For clients preparing for regulatory assessments, embedding security controls into AI or digital transformation programs, or managing board-level reporting on cyber resilience, having advisory and assurance capability within the same trusted partner network removes the coordination overhead of sourcing and qualifying a separate testing firm.
Core Services. MSQube Technology Solutions specialises in enterprise digital transformation with a practice centre in SAP S/4HANA, procurement technology, supply chain platforms and AI-driven process automation. Their delivery record includes greenfield SAP implementations for central government clients, multi-country procurement and supply chain transformation programs, cloud migrations from legacy ECC environments, and integration of AI capabilities including SAP Joule and Intelligent RPA. Their leadership carries over two decades of SAP program delivery experience across government, healthcare, life sciences, consumer goods and industrial sectors. They operate across complex, multi-system and multi-vendor environments where implementation risk is material and program governance is a prerequisite for delivery success.
Sapience Alignment. Enterprise transformation programs reshape how an organisation manages data, controls access, processes transactions and engages with third parties. Each of those dimensions carries security and governance implications. MSQube delivers the implementation capability; Sapience works alongside that delivery to ensure security architecture, identity and access management, data governance and control frameworks are incorporated into the transformation design rather than addressed under pressure post-launch. For organisations running SAP programs that intersect with regulatory obligations under APRA CPS 234, the Essential Eight or the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act, the integration of implementation and security advisory within the same partner network reduces both risk exposure and delivery coordination overhead.
Core Services. A-Cubed Risk Solutions provides general insurance, risk advisory, specialty and wholesale insurance placement, claims management and insurance benchmarking. Their risk advisory service operates as an outsourced insurance and risk management function for organisations that do not maintain that capability internally, covering portfolio design, insurer engagement and ongoing program management. Their specialty placement practice is particularly relevant to clients with complex or hard-to-place risks, including cyber liability, where policy terms, coverage scope and exclusion conditions vary considerably across the market. As a Steadfast member, they carry access to Australasia’s largest independent broker network and serve clients across fintech, energy, healthcare, construction and professional services.
How Sapience and A-Cubed work together. For small and medium enterprises a serious cyber incident is frequently existential. The combined cost of downtime, recovery, regulatory exposure and lost customer trust can exceed what the business can absorb. Without a cyber specialist intermediary, insurers either charge premiums that businesses cannot justify or decline to write cover entirely. Sapience works with businesses to assess their security posture and provide remedial recommendations, giving insurers the confidence to underwrite at terms reflecting a more accurate and generally lower risk position. Please note: Sapience and A-Cubed operate independently. There is no commission sharing, referral fee or financial arrangement between the two firms. The relationship exists because the capability is complementary and the client outcome is better when both disciplines work in a coordinated way.
